Health and Productivity Management Goals

One of our company-wide OKRs* is to become a company where employees can be proud to work.
By promoting the key measures of "maintaining and improving physical and mental health" and "creating a comfortable working environment," we aim to create a safe and secure working environment where all employees can work energetically and maximize their abilities at any stage of life.

OKR stands for Objectives and Key Results. It involves setting multiple Key Results (specific indicators for measuring progress toward the Objectives) for the Objectives that an organization aims to achieve.

Health and Productivity Management Promotion System

The President and CEO is the Chief Health and Productivity Management Officer, and the Director in charge of human resources is the Health and Productivity Management Promoter. The Human Resources and General Affairs Department is in charge of coordinating with related departments such as the health insurance association, industrial physicians and nurses, industrial health staff, and health and productivity management promoters to promote health and productivity management throughout the company.

Priority measures

In addition to complying with the Industrial Safety and Health Act and other relevant laws and regulations, we have set the following five areas as priority measures and are working on health support activities to maintain and improve the health and health literacy of our employees and their families.

Initiatives to maintain and improve mental and physical health
  1. Measures against lifestyle-related diseases
  2. Mental Health Promotion
  3. Improving health literacy
Initiatives to create a pleasant working environment
  1. Internal communication
  2. Work style reform and work-life balance

Initiatives to maintain and improve mental and physical health

1. Measures against lifestyle-related diseases

health check
  • Regular health check-ups/lifestyle disease prevention check-ups/health checkups

Regular health checkups include more tests than are legally required. Employees aged 35 and over can choose from a "lifestyle disease prevention checkup" or a "medical checkup" instead of a regular health checkup.

    2019 2020 Fiscal Year 2021 2022 2023
    Health checkup attendance rate 95.7% 97.6% 99.0% 99.6% 100%

Excluding those who were unable to receive medical treatment throughout the period due to overseas posting, leave for childcare, injury, illness, etc.

  • Cancer screening

Employees aged 35 and over can also undergo colon cancer screening, stomach cancer screening, and abdominal ultrasound examinations (when selecting lifestyle-related disease prevention health check/health checkup).
We provide gynecological checkups (breast cancer and uterine cancer screenings) to female employees aged 30 or older, and prostate cancer screenings to male employees aged 50 or older, as an option at no cost to them.

Starting in fiscal year 2023, we will add a "transvaginal ultrasound examination" to enhance our uterine cancer screening. This will lead to the early detection of gynecological diseases (endometriosis, uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, ovarian cancer, etc.).

  • dental checkup

We provide a dental check-up once a year, with the cost fully covered by the company.

  • Spouse Health Check

Dependents are also eligible to receive a free health check once a year.
Those aged 35 and over can also choose to undergo preventive health checkups for lifestyle-related diseases and health checkups.

Infectious disease prevention measures
  • Flu vaccination

We provide influenza vaccinations once a year, with the company covering the full cost.

  • Support for people assigned overseas

To ensure that you can live your life overseas with peace of mind after your assignment, we provide full support to cover the costs of all vaccinations and health checkups for accompanying families.

Infectious disease prevention measures
  • We will close smoking areas within our facilities in September 2023 and are working to prevent passive smoking.

2. Promoting mental health

Stress checks

We conduct stress checks for all employees once a year.
We provide individual counseling to employees with high levels of stress and conduct group analysis on a workplace basis, and use the results to improve the work environment.
The web system also serves as a self-management tool that allows users to check changes over time.

2019 2020 Fiscal Year 2021 2022 2023
Examination rate 82.2% 80.4% 70.5% 88.2% 93.5%

Self-care education

You will gain a deeper understanding of stress, learn how to recognize your own stress, and deal with it appropriately.
It is mainly aimed at the younger generation.

Line care education

You will learn about the necessity of safety precautions within an organization, methods for early detection and response to unwell individuals, and the basics of harassment.
This is mainly carried out by leaders and line managers.

Return to work support

To ensure that employees can work with peace of mind, our in-house industrial health staff work together with managers, supervisors, industrial physicians, and primary physicians to support employees in returning to work.

3. Improving health literacy

Health education and information dissemination
  • Health portal site "PepUp"

We use the health portal site "PepUp" as a tool to improve health literacy.
By visualizing health status and providing health information, we encourage employees to change their health behavior.

  • Providing health information

To provide information on health promotion, we publish "Health News" written by public health nurses and "Health Columns" written by external counselors.
At the monthly health committee meetings, in cooperation with industrial physicians, we take up seasonal or current themes to improve the health literacy of our employees.

  • Health guidance (industrial physician/public health nurse)

An industrial physician reviews the health check results of all employees and makes employment and health guidance decisions.
We provide health guidance interviews, primarily to those at high risk of developing lifestyle-related diseases, and encourage them to visit a medical institution as needed, as well as provide advice on sleep, diet, exercise, and smoking cessation.

Online yoga held

As the number of employees working from home has increased, we have been offering "online yoga" classes led by professional trainers since fiscal 2020 to help employees get enough exercise and take care of their mental health. Currently, these classes are held twice a month, in the morning and evening.

Establishment of internal and external consultation desks
  • Industrial physician consultation service

We have appointed an industrial physician at business locations with fewer than 50 employees, and three industrial physicians have been selected and appointed for the entire company.
We also provide online consultations for those working from home, and have a system in place that allows employees to consult directly with an industrial physician via email.

  • Lunchtime health consultations by public health nurses

A health consultation room run by a public health nurse is open once a week during lunchtime.
You can consult face-to-face or online about mental and physical health issues, concerns about balancing work and treatment, etc.

  • Establishment of External Consultation Desk (EAP)

We have set up a consultation desk with external counselors that employees and their families can easily use.
Your personal information will not be made public to the company, and consultations are free of charge.

  • Harassment Consultation Desk

Due to the system reform in June 2022 (strengthening the protection of whistleblowers), the reporting point will be consolidated into an external point of contact (lawyer) and anonymous reporting will also be possible.

Employee welfare service "Benefit Station"

We have a contract with Benefit One Co., Ltd. to provide the employee welfare service "Benefit Station."
Benefit Station offers a wide range of great value services, including not only gourmet, leisure, shopping, and sports, but also educational content such as e-learning, and services related to life events such as childcare, elderly care, health, and moving.
