Business Engineering Corporation
Business Engineering Corporation, Ltd. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Masakazu Haneda; hereinafter referred to as "B-EN-G") has published a case study of an SAP S/4HANA® Cloud (hereinafter referred to as "S/4HANA") implementation project by Daiichi Kigenso Kagaku Kogyo Co., Ltd. (Chuo-ku, Osaka; President and CEO: Hiroshi Kunibe; hereinafter referred to as "Daiichi Kigenso Kagaku Kogyo"), the world's leading manufacturer of zirconium compounds.
This project began in 2019 and completed the phased rollout of the system to five global bases this year. Having confirmed stable operation after the project's completion, Daiichi Kigenso Kagaku Kogyo has now given us their evaluation of the entire project, which we are now introducing as a case study.

■Project Overview
This project aims to integrate and standardize the business processes and systems of Daiichi Kigenso Kagaku Kogyo's global bases, with the goal of visualizing the management infrastructure of the entire group and enhancing SCM. Depending on the business characteristics of each base (whether or not it involves manufacturing operations), the public and private versions of S/4HANA were adopted in the appropriate places.
In the first phase, the public version was successfully introduced to three overseas sales offices (China, the United States, and Thailand), and in 2020 B-EN-G won the Project Award in the SAP AWARD OF EXCELLENCE 2020. *1
The second phase then saw the introduction of the private version to manufacturing bases (Vietnam and the Japanese headquarters). The entire project was completed in April 2025, establishing a group management foundation for five global bases.
Furthermore, the overall results of this project were highly praised by SAP Japan Co., Ltd. as a "case study of business transformation," and Daiichi Kigenso Kagaku Kogyo won the Mid-Market Catalyst category of the SAP Japan Customer Award 2024 in May 2025. *2

■ Pre-project issues
- Each overseas base used its own local system, making it difficult for the head office to grasp the business situation of each base in real time. Therefore, it was necessary to build a management foundation that could visualize the situation of the entire group.
- The headquarters' core system was limited to collecting performance data, while sales plans, production plans, and actual cost accounting were managed and separated by individual systems, so there was a need for an advanced SCM system that linked sales, production, and procurement.
- In order to respond to major changes such as the shift to electric vehicles in the automotive industry, there is a growing need to establish a DX infrastructure that integrates and standardizes business processes and systems across all global locations.
■Project results
- Visualization of the entire group's business status: Business processes, systems, and code systems are unified across all locations, visualizing the flow of goods and money. This allows for real-time understanding of business performance and future plans, accelerating management decisions and realizing data-driven management.
- Enhanced SCM: By linking sales plans and production plans on the system, we have achieved labor savings through automatic delivery date suggestions and real-time management of the entire group's production, sales, and inventory results.
- Simplified system configuration: Actual cost accounting was integrated into S/4HANA, simplifying the system configuration. As a result, advanced data analysis based on financial reconciliation became possible.
- Improved operational efficiency: By automatically linking order data between groups, manual input work was reduced and the risk of operational errors was reduced.
■Project Points
- The Fit to Standard approach minimizes customization and promotes short-term, cost-saving implementation.
- After experiencing the new functions of the public version of S/4HANA, we built an integrated system that included manufacturing operations using the private version.
- Through close collaboration with "partner companies willing to take on the challenge together," we were able to achieve implementation and stable operation as planned.
■Customer comments
B-EN-G had a strong desire to take on new challenges and to create new solutions, and we felt we could work together to create a new future. As expected, the project for the public version, which was new in every respect, from the implementation method to the functions and user interface, proceeded very smoothly.
Furthermore, they always worked closely with our company's challenges, asking themselves, "How can we make this happen?" as they promoted the project, and I strongly felt that "the key to the success of ERP implementation is who you work with."
