■Background of introducing accounting/ERP system for overseas bases
Murata Machinery, an industrial machinery manufacturer, already accounts for 99% of its sales overseas in the textile machinery business, which is its founding business. In addition, in recent years, the overseas sales ratio of businesses such as machine tools and L&A (Logistics & Automation), which have traditionally targeted the domestic market, has been rapidly increasing.
In this context, our base in Thailand is becoming increasingly important. The three main business divisions of Textile Machinery, Machine Tools, and L&A have moved into the area, and in addition to responding to Thailand's industrial transformation, it also plays an important role as a support base for surrounding countries such as Vietnam and Bangladesh. However, the system that supports sales and accounting operations became a bottleneck for this expanding Thai base.

The issues before the system renewal are as follows.

  • Certain errors were occurring every month in the existing sales system introduced 10 years ago, but the developer had already withdrawn from the Thai market, and replacement was urgently needed.
  • Existing ERP was difficult to use and was only used in certain areas such as tax declarations and check issuance.
  • The company was not able to fully utilize the ERP accounting system and had the prepared journal data posted to an external accounting consulting company to issue financial statements.

■Reasons for adopting mcframe GA

  • The UI is well thought out and easy to use. The master structure was solid, and there was hope that depending on how it was used, input work could be eliminated.
  • We also noted that the system can be automatically linked with the new ERP that is being introduced at the head office.

■Points of introduction ~Customer comments~
"We aimed for a system that could record and centrally manage all business operations without any omissions or waste, without having to go through the trouble of duplicating input into multiple systems. By eliminating different business processes for each division, business operations become easier. In order to provide an alternative method and not just rely on an accounting system, we also devised master settings to manage information required by sales staff and other departments, such as the number of machines delivered and parts sales/service sales. Did."

■Introduction effects

  • The renewal of the sales system has linked processes from quotation to sales recording and collection of accounts receivable, reducing administrative processing time.
  • There is no longer a need for a journal posting agency, and more advanced tasks can now be outsourced, such as having an external accounting consulting company take charge of verifying data content.
  • It is now possible to view the financial status of the Thai base in a timely manner from the Japanese side at any time, making remote business management easier.

As a result of the above, there is no longer a need for full-time expatriates at the Thai base dispatched to the head office, resulting in a significant reduction in personnel costs.
