Creating the future of logistics - Revolutionizing warehouse management with SAP EWM SAPEWM

Overview

SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM) integrates ERP systems, material handling, and logistics to streamline the entire warehouse operation, thereby shortening lead times, standardizing work, and eliminating dependency on individual skills, thereby contributing to improved customer satisfaction.

function

1. Optimization of the warehousing process
  • Arrival notification received
Incoming shipment information from S/4 HANA is automatically imported into the system.
  • Acceptance
You can receive inventory into the warehouse and, if necessary, return inventory that does not meet the acceptance criteria.
  • Shelf storage
Putaway is performed according to storage shelf, item characteristics, etc. Customer-specific putaway rules can be added and set.
  • Lot and serial number control
Management can be performed using lot numbers and serial numbers, and it is possible to register lot master data and manage the storage history of lot characteristic information during the warehousing process. By linking with lot and serial number management data from S/4HANA, accurate inventory management and traceability are achieved.
  • Dangerous Goods Management
It complies with laws and regulations regarding the handling of hazardous materials in warehouses and supports functions such as putaway rules, instructions for storage shelves, and inventory list display.
2. Strengthening storage and warehouse operations
  • Inventory
Supports various inventory methods, including annual inventory, ad-hoc inventory, and continuous inventory.
  • replenishment
Specify minimum and maximum stock levels for the bin locations to be replenished, and warehouse orders are automatically generated for items that fall below the minimum stock level. By specifying minimum and maximum stock levels within the system, replenishment is performed and picking shelves are kept full at the time of shipment, preventing interruptions to the outbound process due to lack of stock at the source shelves.
  • Slotting/Relocation
The system will suggest the optimal storage shelf when goods are received. By setting the appropriate shelf type (physical criteria) and storage number (demand criteria) search, you can optimize space and work time.
  • Handling Unit (HU) Management
This function manages the "packaging style" (product, case, pallet, etc.) handled in the supply chain as a management unit. It manages the packaging style that changes during the manufacturing and distribution process, ensuring traceability from material procurement to product delivery.
3. Optimization of the shipping process
  • Import shipping instructions
Imports shipping document information from S/4HANA. After importing, EWM can create an outbound work plan that takes into account transportation routes, inventory allocation, storage bins, packaging, etc.
  • Inventory Reservation
The system determines the optimal picking shelf based on item characteristics and allocation policies.Allocation rules can be set, such as first-in-first-out (FIFO), last-in-first-out (LIFO), expiration date-based, split pallet minimization, and manual specification, and custom rules can also be added.
  • packing
Picked items are packed and loaded onto pallets as necessary. Based on item data, shipping data, and warehouse data, the optimal number of packages and type of packaging are calculated, and delivery efficiency is improved by minimizing shipping units. Handling unit (HU) management functionality helps ensure traceability.
4. Automation of warehouse operations
  • Linking with material handling systems
It can be linked to material handling systems such as automated warehouses. The Material Flow System (MFS) function allows it to link with automated transport equipment such as conveyors and lifts, and achieves efficient material flow through communication with the PLC of the automated transport equipment.
  • Collaboration with robots/AGVs
Working in conjunction with automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and robots, it improves efficiency and optimizes material flow, potentially reducing transport times, improving warehouse throughput, and increasing picker productivity.
  • Use of mobile devices, etc.
It can be linked to comprehensive mobile solutions such as RF, mobile, and wearable terminals for warehouse operations and management. These terminals can be used to perform a variety of tasks, including receiving, retrieving (picking, packing, loading), inventory counting, replenishment, and repackaging.

B-EN-G implementation support

B-EN-G utilizes its specialized know-how in the manufacturing industry to provide total support for warehouse reform.
We will accompany you through the following steps to work with you to create the optimal system configuration.

Current situation analysis Solution selection Material handling integration Post-operation maintenance and operation
Implementation of ERP + EWM

We support the simultaneous implementation of EWM (Extended Warehouse Management) in line with the implementation or upgrade of SAP ERP. We design it while maintaining consistency with the core system.

SAP EWM standalone implementation

We support the standalone implementation and optimization of EWM for customers who wish to strengthen their warehouse management functions while leaving their existing system environment (such as a third-party ERP) intact.

Linking with existing automated warehouse systems

We provide seamless integration for customers who already have automated warehouse systems in their logistics warehouses or factory warehouses at their manufacturing bases and are facing challenges in linking them with ERP.

Global expansion and roll-in support

We also handle installation and deployment projects at overseas bases, supporting the standardization of warehouse management operations on a global level while taking into consideration the laws, regulations, and requirements of each country.
