Announcement of research report on IT usage trends among Japanese companies overseas
The overseas business environment has changed significantly, including rising exchange rates and personnel costs.

Business Engineering Corporation (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Masakazu Haneda; hereinafter referred to as "B-EN-G") conducted a "Trends Survey on the Use of Information Systems/Digital Technology by Companies Expanding Overseas" under the supervision of the DTFA Institute (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Director: Yoshihiro Maeda), a Deloitte Tohmatsu Group company, targeting the Japanese headquarters and overseas subsidiaries of Japanese companies with overseas bases, and is announcing the results today.
The purpose of this survey was to clarify the current state and challenges of utilizing information systems and digital technology amid drastic changes in economic and social conditions overseas, and targeted Japanese companies with local subsidiaries overseas, mainly in Asia, regardless of business size, industry, or business type.

3. What the survey results revealed
- Foreign exchange fluctuations such as the weaker yen and stronger dollar, as well as increases in labor costs and prices overseas, have an impact on overseas business.
- Reflecting post-coronavirus changes, companies are turning their attention to expanding sales and market share in the booming Asian market.
- In a highly uncertain business environment, 80% of respondents felt the need to strengthen the use of IT at overseas bases.
- Fifty percent of companies use Excel to exchange group management data (accounting, sales, purchasing, inventory), including those at overseas offices, between the head office and overseas offices, and the complexity of using Excel was cited as an issue.
