Project Background

Sawai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., which is well-known for its television commercials starring Hideki Takahashi, is a leading generic drug company whose corporate philosophy is "For the patient above all else." Generic drugs are medical drugs that have the same ingredients and efficacy as brand-name drugs, but are priced at 20 to 70% cheaper.

Sawai Pharmaceutical, which specializes in generic drugs, has a product lineup of more than 580 items and handles a wide range of medicines from lifestyle-related diseases such as hypertension, dyslipidemia (hyperlipidemia), and diabetes to anticancer drugs, as well as various dosage forms such as tablets, OD tablets (tablets that can be taken without water), and injectable drugs.

Generic drugs not only reduce the burden on patients at the counter, they also help health insurance unions, which are running into deficits, and the country's medical costs, which continue to increase as the population ages. The government has also set a goal of increasing the volume share of generic drugs to 30% or more by the end of March 2013, and is working to promote their use.

Under the above circumstances, Sawai Pharmaceutical's business scope is rapidly expanding as the market expands.

The company began upgrading its core system in September 2009 as part of various measures to continue to provide a "stable supply of high-quality generic drugs" with an even more complete product lineup for the future.

B-EN-G was selected as an IT solution partner.

This was a large-scale project that covered a wide range of areas including accounting, sales, procurement, and production/quality control, but it began full-scale operation in April 2012.
