Improving the accuracy and freshness of data and centralized management to increase operational efficiency and effectively utilize management assets

Implemented Solutions

MySAP ERP 2004, SAP BW

Project Background

NIPPON KONPO UNYU SOKO CO.,LTD. is a comprehensive logistics company that operates 80 business offices and 21 affiliated companies in Japan, and 18 bases in 9 companies in 6 countries overseas, handling transportation, warehousing, packaging, and moving.

The company's business environment was changing due to tighter social laws and regulations, rising logistics costs, and increased competition (e.g., revision of two logistics laws). In addition, internally, the company faced issues such as the obsolescence of existing applications, compliance, internal controls, and the realization of a new mid-term management plan, and as part of these measures, the system infrastructure was rebuilt.

To rebuild the system, we analyzed the current system, developed information systems for sales management, business management, human resources information, and analysis and evaluation, and then restructured, reviewed, and constructed new information systems.

Project Outline

MySAP ERP 2004 was adopted as the base ERP package, and subsystems for human resources management, financial accounting, management accounting, sales management, purchasing management, and vehicle management were built. In addition, we built a system that uses SAP BW to analyze data in multiple dimensions and effectively utilize management information.

The following points were taken into consideration when building the system:

  • Refine sales management and realize sales strategy development by introducing income and expenditure management by shipper
  • Visualization of operations using KPIs (key performance indicators)
  • Redevelopment of human resources and organizational management infrastructure
  • Improving data utilization and IT usage skills
  • Strengthening internal controls

Implementation Results

We rebuilt the company-wide information system infrastructure, realized the smooth sharing and analysis of management information, and supported the efficiency of each business, solving the following management issues.

  • Improving the accuracy and freshness of data for business decisions
  • Improving operational efficiency by promoting systemization of management operations
  • Unified central management of human capital information
  • Improving data utilization and IT usage skills
  • Efficient use of management assets
